Make your life meaningful

Do you sometimes look at your life and think to yourself, what’s the point? I get up inA life without meaning the morning go to work, come home relax for a couple of hours and then go to bed so that I can get up again the next morning and start all over again. Would anybody really notice if I was not here? You may realise that you would be missed by your loved ones but would it make any real difference to the world?

Sadly many of us go through life exactly like that and then wonder why our lives feel so unfulfilled and empty.

I want to make a radical suggestion.

This has been tried throughout the centuries and it always works. Are you brave enough to give it a try?

What on earth am I talking about? I’m talking about giving.

We’ve all heard the saying that it is more blessed to give than to receive and those words slip across our lips easily and without much thought but they contain a world of truth. I have discovered that when I give, and I’m not just talking about money, my life becomes meaningful. There’s a reason to get up in the morning. There’s a purpose to what I’m doing. There’s a real joy as I see other people’s lives transformed because of the little that I have been able to contribute.

It is not my place to tell you what to give or who it should be given to that is something that you need to sort out with God. However may I suggest that as you pray about this you prayerfully consider whether God would have you to stand with Marilyn and I in the work that we are doing for him through the children’s home in Kenya.

You can read all about it by clicking here.

Briefly we have a home which has 80 children who would otherwise have nowhere to live. Many, probably the majority, would die without this help and the few who remain would suffer health problems which would plague them for the rest of their life or they would end up living a life of crime simply to survive. By God’s grace we are able to give them a roof over their head, a bed to sleep in, clothing to wear, medical treatment as needed and an education all in a strong Christian environment.

We don’t have the money to do this! But God called us to this Ministry and God has faithfully provided.

As you know we run Christian House Sitters which is a wonderful ministry that has blessed people all over the world. Every penny received through Christian House Sitters goes to these children.

God is also very graciously provided us with sponsors who give money on a regular monthly basis towards these children. And then there are those whom God moves to give occasional gifts. All this money goes to the children to supply their needs.

But it is not enough.

We desperately need to build more dormitories because the children are crammed into rooms that are too small for the number of children that we have. We do not even have a real kitchen only a temporary shelter where the food is cooked these children. Each January as we have to pay the school fees and buy uniforms for 80 children it is a real challenge. And one that God has always met praise Him.

Please can you pray about this Ministry and ask God if he would like you to get involved in some way.

You could sponsor a child, you could give an occasional gift, you could ask your church or your friends and your work colleagues to club together and take this on as a project, if you involved in youth work this would be a wonderful opportunity for your young people to get involved in helping children in real need.

Quote from Anne FrankI recently chatted to a friend and asked him to consider sponsoring a child. He said; “I wish I could but we just don’t have any spare money” I asked him how often he and his wife eat out at a restaurant. He said on average twice a month. I pointed out that the money spent on just one of those outings could feed and provide everything for 2 children for a whole month. So if he was willing to even help one child it would only mean reducing their evenings out from 24 to 18 a year.

His response was that they need to eat out as otherwise life seems to hold no joy for them. Just work. He could not understand how much joy he and his wife could receive by saving a life.

Contact me if I can give you any more information.

These Children need your help

These Children need your help

But even if this is not the Ministry that God has called you to give to I must repeat what I said at the beginning. It is when we give to those in need that our life takes on a richness ,a fullness and a level of blessing beyond our comprehension.Do not miss out.

God bless you,

Ray.

About housesitters

ABOUT Christian House Sitters Christian House Sitters is a Worldwide ministry that started in order to provide holidays for Christians and sitters for owners who needed a reliable Christian to look after their home, pets and garden. House owners do not pay anything to have their property listed. House sitters are only charged £25 per year and in return for this some enjoy numerous holidays each year. All fees from membership go to sponsor food for children at the Home of Peace Children’s Home in Kenya. This only supplies about a quarter of what is needed to feed the children so we urgently need sponsors. All funds go via our Registered Charity TLC Children’s Trust Charity Number 1156786 website http://www.tlc-childrenstrust.org N.B. Joining Christian House Sitters does NOT commit you to sponsoring a child or giving any support beyond your membership fee to these children. Although naturally if you want to support that would be greatly appreciated. We have some regular sponsors and other people who give an occasional gift. All are greatly appreciated.
