“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.” Isaiah 55:8
The truth of that verse has been demonstrated time and again and Marilyn and I are experiencing it yet again.
First some background. As you know we run Christian House Sitters to help Christians enjoy a holiday without having to worry about the cost of renting accommodation or about their own home and pets while they are away. But we also run it to provide the funds to feed and look after the children at the Home of Peace children’s Home in Kenya. All income from our site goes to them. Even that is not enough! We need more money to provide what these children need. I am not talking about luxuries but essentials so we prayed about holding a fund-raising event.
Out of the blue we were approached and offered a marquee and the grounds at Oakwood Village Hall free of charge on the 14th of August as the local horticultural society are hiring it for the previous day. On their committee there is only one person that we know of who is a Christian. They have been amazing in their compassion for Home of Peace. They have given us the use of loads of trestle tables and all the chairs that they’ll be using for the stalls and the marquee or free of charge.
So we have decided to go ahead.
Now I started by saying God’s ways are not our ways.
This is a Sunday evening. We would never have chosen a Sunday as lots of our supporters will be at church
This is in August. We would not have chosen August as it is the main holiday month when people are away.
It is soon. We would not have done it so soon as Marilyn is really not at all well. She is seeing the consultant at the Guildford Hospital again next Tuesday and may need major surgery.
But God gave it to us so we are going ahead believing that, as Isiah reminds us, “His ways are far beyond anything we could imagine”
Please pray for this event. You can read about it at
God bless you,
